The travel pillow that lets you actually sleep upright.

SpineCradle is a full-spine travel pillow designed to stop head flop and lower back fatigue on long journeys. It supports the neck, upper back and lower back as one system, so your spine carries your head instead of your neck muscles. Designed in Carlsbad, California.

The problem

Your neck was never the problem.

You doze off, your head drops and you jolt awake. U-shaped pillows try to hold your head up against gravity. That was never the neck’s job.

At rest, your spine is meant to carry your head. Sit upright for hours without proper support and your spine collapses forward, your neck muscles strain to compensate and you wake up stiff.

SpineCradle brings your head back into alignment with your spine, letting it rest naturally backward while you sleep upright. No head flop, no back strain, just real rest.

The flop starts at the bottom, not the top.

Seated for hours, your spine folds forward from its base. A neck pillow can’t stop that, so your head is just the last thing to go, and you jolt awake.

Set the support each part of your back needs.

Inflate with the built-in USB-C pump in under 10 seconds, or three full breaths. A precision micro-valve tunes each zone on its own.

  • Lower backStops the slump at its source
  • Upper backHolds the mid-spine against the seat
  • NeckContoured curve with side stabilization

Your head stays put on its own.

With the whole spine supported, your head rests naturally back and stays centered, even through turbulence or vehicle motion. No head flop, no back strain.

How it works

Three zones that work as one spine.

Instead of forcing your body into one fixed shape, SpineCradle lets you set the exact support each part of your back needs.

Neck

A contoured curve and side stabilization keep your head centered, even through turbulence or vehicle motion.

Zone 2

Upper back

Holds the thoracic curve against the seat so your shoulders can drop and settle.

Zone 3

Lower back

Fills the gap between you and the seat, so the spine can’t collapse from its base.

Designed to replace a neck pillow, a lumbar roll and even the seat upgrade with one system that packs flat into a carry-on, briefcase or backpack.

Meet the founders

A spine engineer and a company builder take on the travel pillow.

SpineCradle was founded in Carlsbad, California, by two co-founders: one who designed the product and one who runs the business.

Co-founder & Chief Product Officer

Biomedical engineer with over 15 years of experience developing spinal technologies for degenerative disc disease, adolescent and adult idiopathic scoliosis and other spinal disorders. He holds more than 10 patents in spinal correction and support.

SpineCradle is built on one principle he saw most travel pillows ignore: at rest, your spine should carry your head, not your neck muscles straining to hold it up.

Kickstarter Names SpineCradle a “Project We Love” as Campaign Surges Past Initial Goal

Carlsbad, CA, October 21, 2026. SpineCradle was recognized by Kickstarter as a “Project We Love” even before its official launch, and early backer response has confirmed the enthusiasm behind the product.

Within the first 2½ hours of day one, SpineCradle surpassed its initial fundraising goal. The campaign quickly climbed to the number two position in its Kickstarter category and continued to build momentum, exceeding its first-week target by more than 650%.

SpineCradle is a patented new travel comfort device designed to help users sleep more comfortably while seated on airplanes, buses, trains, cars, or in chairs. Unlike traditional neck pillows, SpineCradle is engineered to support the full back and lumbar region, not just the head and neck.

“We are thrilled with the support of our backers, and this Kickstarter campaign is just the beginning,” said Larry Morgan, co-founder of SpineCradle. “SpineCradle is designed to help travelers sleep upright more comfortably by addressing the head-flop and lower-back fatigue that many people experience during travel.”

“Traditional neck pillows do not solve the problem of head flopping,” Morgan continued. “When seated properly, gravity does not have to pull your head down. SpineCradle’s unique design helps travelers rest more comfortably and arrive at their destination refreshed, alert, and ready for a productive day.”

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How is SpineCradle different from a neck pillow?
Neck pillows try to hold your head up against gravity. SpineCradle aligns your head with your spine, so your head rests naturally while you sleep upright.
Is it easy to use on a plane, train or car?
Yes. It inflates in under 10 seconds with the USB-C pump or three full breaths, and adjusts to any upright seat.
Will it fit my body?
Each of the three zones adjusts independently, and a precision micro-valve fine-tunes the pressure in each one.
How long does the pump charge last?
Up to 25 minutes of continuous airflow, which covers many trips since inflation only takes seconds.
Is it bulky?
No. It packs flat to about the size of a water bottle and fits into a carry-on, briefcase or backpack, with a case that clips onto your luggage handle.
How do I clean it?
Fabric parts are machine washable and the shell wipes clean.
When does it ship?
Shipping is expected to begin in January 2027.
Where can I buy it?
SpineCradle is available on Kickstarter until October 29, 2026, from $149.
